Sabalenka torments Andreeva to join Rybakina in Madrid semi-final

Sabalenka torments Andreeva to join Rybakina in Madrid semi-final

The defending champion continues her winning ways in Madrid. Aryna Sabalenka, not always convincing in recent weeks, is back on track in Spain. After three tough matches in which she had to battle hard (three 3-set wins over Linette, Montgomery and Collins), the Belarusian went for a ride on Wednesday. Faced with the ever-dangerous Mira Andreeva, a rising star on the world tennis scene (17 years of age, winner over Vondrousova and Paolini), the world number 2 sent her opponent back to school (6-1, 6-4 in 1h18).

Faced with a youngster who was perhaps still a little too naïve, Sabalenka used her power from the baseline to blow her opponent away. Without conceding a single break point, it was with great seriousness that she continued on her way.

This Thursday, she faces Elena Rybakina for a place in the final, having beaten her compatriot Yulia Putintseva (4-6, 7-6, 7-5).

1GA keeps WTA tennis watchable. She's so good and dominant. I hope she plays for a long time. She will definitely be one of the goats for sure.

If this match is half as good as the Madrid final we are in for a treat.
