Tsitsipas saves 2 match points in a crazy quarter in Barcelona!
Stefanos Tsitsipas needed nerves of steel to secure his place in the Barcelona semi-finals. Facing a fiery Facundo Diaz Acosta, the recent Monte-Carlo winner had to battle for 2.5 hours, saving 2 match points, to win in 3 sets (4-6, 6-3, 7-6).
The scenario was indecisive right to the end. Just like the tie-break of the 3rd set, in which Diaz Acosta led 5 points to 2 before seeing the Greek reverse the trend, save a 2nd match point (he saved the 1st on his serve just before the tie-break), then finally win 10 points to 8 on his 3rd match point.
Tsitsipas collapsed on the clay after his victory, as if he'd just won the tournament. But the road to the title is still long, and he will face Arthur Fils or Dusan Lajovic in the semi-finals on Saturday.
